Protect Your Vision
Wear sunglasses
Even on cloudy days, your eyes need protection from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. Make sure that your sunglasses block out at least 99% of both UVA and UVB radiation.
Eat healthy foods
Eat a diet that is rich in a variety of fruits and vegetables, especially dark leafy greens, like spinach or kale. Fish that is high in omega-3 fatty acids, like tuna, salmon and halibut can help protect your vision.
Get plenty of exercise
Anything that gets your heart beating faster can help keep your eyes healthy. Other benefits of regular physical activity are stress reduction and can even boost your mood, along with protecting you from eye disease.
Give your eyes a rest
Do you spend a lot of time at your computer? Try looking away from the screen every 20 minutes. Focus on a point in the distance, and 20 feet away for a few seconds. This reduces eyestrain and your eyes will feel better at the end of the day.
Wear protective eyewear
When playing sports or working around the house, wear protective goggles.
See your eye doctor
Have reqular eye exams, even if you think your eyes are healthy. A detailed eye exam from your eye care professional is the only way to be sure.
